Fees for the 2015-16 US Medical Residency Application Season

Fulfilling a dream in the field of medicine does not come cheap these days. You will need to be aware of your budget in order to make decisions about how many specialties you can apply to and which programs are worth going to interview with. It’s better to be prepared for the financial road ahead by being aware of costs relevant to the medical residency process.

Below are all of the fees associated with the US Medical Residency Application process:

USMLE (For IMGs)

Step 1 = $865*
Step 2 CK = $865*
Step 2 CS = $1,505
*Extension of Eligibility = $70 per exam

ECFMG

Application for ECFMG Certification = $65
USMLE Transcript (Paper Copy) = $65 per request (up to 10)
USMLE Transcript (Electronic) $80 (one time fee)
Application for J-1 Sponsorship = $280 + $160 to the Dept. of Homeland Security

ERAS

ERAS Token = $105

Programs Per Specialty
Up to 10 = $97
11 – 20 = $11 each
21 – 30 = $16 each
31 or more = $26 each

For example, in one specialty:
100 programs = $2,187
200 programs = $4,374

NRMP®
Registration Fee = $65 (first 20 programs on primary rank list)
Late Fee = $50 (after Nov. 30)
Couples = $15 additional per partner
Additional Programs = $30 per program

o Editing Service (S-ES) 3-5 day service = $199 (add $50 to expedite 24-48 hours)
o Development (S-DS) 7-10 days service = $389 (add $100 to expedite 3-5 days)

Match A Resident
o Regular Season Access (good through March 1, 2016): $79 first specialty list, $71.10 each list   after (10% off), $199 for all specialty lists
o Full Season Access (good through May 1, 2016): $99 first specialty list, $89.10 each list after (10% off), $299 for all specialty lists
Interviews:
• Travel (to the interview and around the area)
